Do You stock Pile?

I used to stock pile a lot and how my family used to tease me. But it did save me a fortune  as i would only ever purchase bargainous offers and stopped me nipping to local shops. It also meant that we had plenty in stock.  Well I am going to start it again next month I have ran the cupboards and chest freezer right down to the bare minimum so nothing has gone to waste but I do keep nipping to the local Tesco and its pushing my food budget right up which is no good as I want to lower that. So my target for this month is to establish two months supply's of  tinned food, toiletries, laundry and cleaning products and to refill my chest freezer all with bargains though and attempt to stick to a  budget of £350 (usually £550 for the rest of the month. Then lower the budget the following month  to £ 500 whilst maintaining my stockpile if you see what I mean so by December I should be spending the bare minimum on groceries  to free up some cash for christmas!

I will be mainly shopping at aldi and hunt around online for the best prices on all the other stuff I can not buy there e.g laundry detergent, Lots of bulk cooking too and focusing on reducing the waste. I will try and use as  many coupons as possible and collect a few Tesco club card points while am at it (hoping to get a few vouchers towards the uniforms). So will posting updates of my spends to ensure I stick to my target !

off to write a very long list

  1. Hi Jen, I stock pile too and I agree it does save money. We like a lot of Sainsburys Basics, so if they send me a coupon for say £6 off a £30 shop I will concentrate that on buying tinned goods, my trolley is usually a sea of orange labels but who cares lol We like the basics version of smash, its only 45p and makes 6 portions, just add salt and pepper and a good knob of butter and its a good standby. Perfect for that leftover dish of bolognaise just plop some on the top and sprinkle with grated cheese from the stash in the freezer and pop into the oven to brown, serve with some frozen peas and you have an instant low cost meal with minimum effort.

It sounds like you are really trying hard to conquer your food budget and I applaude you for that, I don't know how you find the time with your busy life. Maybe you could get the older ones onboard seeking out bargains for you, you could tell them its educational fun!

    Take care
    Karen x

  2. Hi jen where are you hiding?

I stock pile i'm really bad for stocking up my freezer but then buying fresh meat every week anyway!

I have a £3 off £30 spend for tesco's that i will be using tomorrow, i will be stocking up on there half price passata, lots of tins as i am running abit low, cereal, milk powder and veggies for next week.

I have used lidls laundry liquid before it was quite good, i use surf tho as i nuy huge bottles half price/bogof in makro once a year i havnet bought any in 2 years now as i have so much, i also got a huge bag of crushed tablets for £7 off a local selling page i've yet to even open it. You can buy the crushed tablets off ebay (well you can i can't because i'm not in the mainland) it's usually persil or surf.

Karen i use mostly tesco value items aswell so your not on your own there. We don't like cheap smash but tinned potatoes washed well, boiled slightly in fresh water then lightly fried in some butter are very nice, or you can throw them in a stew.

  3. Hi ladies sorry I haven't been around much my laptop charger got broken and have been doing loads of extra shifts.
I bulk buy laundry detergent when its on offer and have recently bought 4 large boxes of daz its the only thing that gets the boys clothes clean besides persil. The hardest thing about the food budget is finding the time. I have been neglecting my blogging of late and that really keeps me focused on my money saving ways! I am back on form now ladies and will be blogging far more regularly.

And just to remind you ladies that this time of year Morrisons reduce their robin sons juice last year it was only 50p a bottle ( I bought 12 last year) so keep a look out for the special offersx
